Attorney Oliver has been practicing law and trying cases for more than 40 years. His practice includes civil litigation at the state and federal level and appellate work. He graduated from Yale University, B.A., magna cum laude, 1962, and Yale Law School, LL.B., 1965. In addition to his distinguished legal career as a civilian lawyer, Mr. Oliver served in the Navy Reserve as a Judge Advocate and retired as a Captain.
He has served as a Member of the New Haven Board of Aldermen from 1965 to 1967 and as a member of the Connecticut General Assembly, House of Representatives, from 1967 to 1973 (Member, Committees on: Judiciary and Appropriations, 1967-1973; Insurance, 1967-1970; Vice-Chairman, Committee on Public Health and Safety, 1971-1973). He also served as a member of the Federal Grievance Committee for the District of Connecticut 1997 to 2003 (Chairman, 2000-2003). Mr. Oliver has served as a trustee of St. Francis Church and of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. He was awarded the St. Joseph Archdiocesan Medal of Appreciation for his service.
Attorney Oliver was admitted to the Connecticut Bar and the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut in 1965, the U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit in 1974, the United States Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Military Appeals.
